This is a miniature scale (1/8th of life size) Replica of a "californio" or "ranchero" style saddle from the 1800's. On this saddle set, I have developed my own saddle patterns, My own tooling ideas, hand braided bosal, mecate AND reins, my own hand made hardware including hand made, hand etched REAL SILVER Buckles and bit shanks. (they have been coated to retard tarnishing) The Bridle has hand made silver bit shanks, hand made silver buckles, hand braided reins and hand dyed leather. The Bosal was hand braided and has a turks head heel knot. The Mecate was also hand braided and has turks head knots on the top of each tassel on each end. The saddle was developed by me using my own pattern and my own tooling pattern that was inspried by a real californio saddle. The cinch was also hand woven and has leather on each end behind the buckles. This saddle has been signed, numbered and dated by me and is a one of a kind. The only pieces on this set I did not make were the saddle tree and the Stirrups. The stirrups were hand made out of real wood by my friend and woodworker, Robin Poehlein. The tree was customized from a Jennifer Harris Tree. The saddle will come with the Saddle Stand.
