Kathrynsart's Bio
I started drawing as a teen and was encouraged by my high school teacher to think seriously about an art career. But my greatest support during this time was my mother, a very artistic person herself. I set my art aside, as many of us do, so that I could devote most of my time to rearing a family. My son's are now grown, and a few years ago while visiting my sister in New England, I saw a lighthouse that I loved and had to draw it. The inspiration of the lighthouse started my creative juices flowing again. Returning home, Hocking Hills in Southern Ohio provided me with continued inspiration. I then took a seminar in watercolor pencil. Later I started to experiment with pastels in my weekly art classes. This introduction turned into a love for this medium. With the encouragement and support from my sons and their father, I now work in both colored pencil and pastel. I am a member of the Westervill Art League, where this year I am the coordinator of the Spring show (2006), and I am a member of the Gallery 202 co-op. www.artswesterville.com . I have also been voted in as the 2006/2007 Westerville Art League President. Please come to one of our meetings heald on the 4TH Tuesday of every month, or better yet, Join! You may also view my work at www.kathrynsart.50megs.com In every new work, I see improvement and strive to perfect my skill in capturing the soft realism of landscapes and animals.
