Franklin Alternative Middle School Reviews

Sort byDate: newest to oldestDate: oldest to newestRating: highest to lowestRating: lowest to highest Page 1 of 3 Posted yesterday f.a.m.s is not as good as you think, the school lacks leardership, reponsible kids, and teachers i think they should change the format of the rule and stop worring so much of the boys and girls being seperated and uniform when they should focus on school work and getting kids involved in school work and not end of the year trips that are bad( like the zoo ) so I'm not saynig don't send your child there but if i was you i would wait until they focus more on school work instead of sports and other things.

I am a student here at franklin...ii do not accept this school and i know the teachers, students, and staff need to stand up for their school...but i do not recomend this school for any child in grd.6-8..i am sorry..and one day my teacher ripped my homework up that took me foreverto do and i know the students [me] can be a handful but there is no-way the teachers should be non-cooperative like this..do not chose this school....won't get a grade. I taught I did all the research I can do to get my child in a good school. For some reason the school was not what it was all cracked out to be. Don't get me wrong I can tell at one point of time this was an excellent school I just think that they got more than they can handle. As a result my child behavior has taken a 360 degree turn. The teacher called one day because my child was talking loud in class. I asked her to put my child on the phone. In the background the teacher had no control of the class. My child said that is what she goes through everyday. I am not blaming the school completely. And your right it is not fair. I have choosen to move back home for the sake of my child to get her back in order.

I am a parent of a student that went to Franklin this year. At first I heard alot of good things about the school, and come to find out it's not as good as I throught. The teachers there lack communcation with the parents. And the principal is just somewere in the building and never able to get a hold of her. I would not recommend anyone to send their child there. Most of the students are so disrespectful it doesn't make any since. I had one teacher tell me that she didn't teach one day because some of the students were just out of control. I feel as through that was not fair to the other students that were in school tring to learn. Franklin is not a good school. If you want your child to succeed, don't send them there.

I am grateful for the teachers and staff @ Franklin Alt Middle School for helping my child in seeing that it was time to grow up this year and be held accountable for his actions. He is becoming quite a responsible young man and I am so proud of him.I see him off to school in a good mood almost every day.I am glad he was chosen in the lottery to attend a fine school. Thank you to all the staff and anyone who has helped in keeping the 6th grade kids on track this year so far. Grateful parent of a 6th grade student

May 8, 2006 Our son is doing a wonderful job at Franklin Alternative. The teachers are awseome and the students display respect for their peers and teachers at all times. At first we were a little apprehensive about the sending our son to a new school away from classmates he grew up with. However, our son has risen to the challenge. Middle school is a transational year for all children to take on more accountability for their future. Our son has maintained a 4.0 average and a member of the gift and talented classes. The uniforms make the students stand out and demand to be counted. The students both boys and girls take great pride in their appearance. We are looking forward to our son completing his three years at Franklin Alternative because we know he is ready for the higher grades. Thank you, Mrs. Barnard Brown

The quality of the academics at F.A.M.S are extreamly good. The teachers are very commited to the education and upbringing of there students. The teachers at this school go above and beyond to make sure that we as students are successful. Giving there personal time before and after school to tutor, a lot of the time at no cost. The administration is doing an amazing job running this school. I am angered by the comments made by the parent of a former F.A.M.S student. You are insulting the time and effort that the teachers and principals put out every year to better the STUDENTS. Franklin Alternative Middle School is truly a school of EXELLENCE and will continue to be so under the direction of Ms. Gudger and Mrs. Pettis.

Three years ago, this school was awesome. Dr. Moultry was there but they switched him to woodward park. This school has gone downhill fast. The students lack discipline, the teachers have little contact with parents regarding discipline and grade issues. The principal there, ms. Gudger, has more concern for the uniform the kids where than what type of education they receive. It is one of those schools where as long as it looks good from the outside, what is actually going on does not matter. My two sons have actually gone backwards in learning since beginning school here and are now struggling in high school. My son took three years of french there and received a b on every report card but did not know 10 french words when he began french at cahs this year. Lousy school-if you were considering franklin-reconsider please!
